Hello,
My Great Grandfather is proving a bit of a mystery and I am eager to find out more about him and discover further evidence of records if possible.
He was Baptista Sabini on most records and was born in Holborn, London around 1890 to Italian immigrants, Domenico Sabini and Maria Campominosi. The strange thing is that he was a middle child, but while all his elder and younger siblings have birth certificates, he does not seem to have one (at least not one I can find online).
I have found a record of his baptism at St Peters Italian Church in Clerkenwell, which is in latin and lists his name as Joannes Baptista Antonius Sabini (Giovanni Baptista Anthony Sabini) with Domenico and Maria as parents. This baptism took place on 9th March 1890 and gives his birth date as 20th February 1890.
My grandmother recalled that his birth may have been acknowledged after the fact maybe at a court, but this is anecdotal evidence and I do not know whether a birth certificate or acknowledgement of his existence would have been produced from this that I can acquire.
Furthermore, I cannot find him in the Sabini household in the 1891 census, and the earliest I can find him after his baptism is in the 1901 census as 'Battista Sabini' in the household. He doesn't appear on the 1911 census either, and its only his 1915 marriage to Rose Clifton that I pick up the trail again... so I'm eager to try and find out more about his early life, and particularly obtain his vital records and circumstances of birth.
Thanks
Thanks
