Title: Burial of Sarah/Sally Appleyard - 1794-1802
Post by: BumbleB on Thursday 19 November 20 15:40 GMT (UK)
I'm hoping that I have not already asked this question in the past.  :-\

My ancestor, Wadsworth Appleyard, married Sally Mitchell - 31 May 1784 at St John the Baptist, Halifax.

Children:
James, baptised 1784 at St John the Baptist, Halifax, buried 1817 at St Mary, Illingworth
John, baptised 1786 at St John the Baptist, buried 1851 at St Mary, Illingworth
Thomas, baptised 1789 at Warley Independent, buried 1791 at St Mary, Illingworth
William, baptised 1792 at South Parade Wesleyan, buried 1794 at St Mary, Illingworth
Mary, baptised 1793 at South Parade, buried 1794 at St Mary, Illingworth
Sarah, baptised 1794 at South Parade - I haven't found her burial

19 April 1802 Wadsworth married Mary Binns at St John the Baptist, Halifax.  They go on to have a number of children.  Wadsworth and Mary are both buried at St Mary, Illingworth.

I have searched the burial registers of St Mary, Illingworth (including the BTs), South Parade, Square Church, Warley and Moor End.  BUT I can't find Sarah/Sally Appleyard between 1794 and 1802.

Any ideas, anyone, pretty please  :-*

Many thanks Daniel, but I have to agree with Mckha489 that that Sarah was the wife of Samuel.  Wadsworth Appleyard appears to have been a Weaver - at least on some of the baptisms of children from the second marriage, I can't see an occupation on the baptisms from the first marriage.  It just seems strange to me that Sarah/Sally is NOT buried at St Mary, Illingworth, where all of her children were buried.

In the Yorkshire burial set transcripts is a burial of ‘Sarah’. No surname.  13 Apr 1801

On FindMyPast, but I can’t see the original anywhere. I haven’t looked too hard yet though.

I should have added the burial was at St Mary, Illingworth

13 April 1801 - not my Sarah - Ancestry have the image which is difficult to read, but the surname is definitely not Appleyard.
