What a lovely face she has  :)

I've just done a tidy as I'm on my little laptop at the moment but hope to get  to colour it tomorrow on my big machine

Thanks again!
She was one of the fisher folk of the Ferry who bated lines on the beach for a living. She lost two husbands at sea to the fishing. It amazes me she doesn’t look more weather beaten, although I don’t know when this photo was taken.

She had a hard life.

It looks possible Edwardian*. I see from SP  that she died in 1938.

Thanks for looking, but there’s a wee story! There are two Mary Caithness Knights around the time. My gr granny and her cousin who was also her sister in law! The Knights in Broughty Ferry were very closely interwoven, to say the least! I’ve spent donkey's years trying to unravel them ;)

I should be getting on but I see that there is a possible  birth registration - 1872 in Monifieth.  Is that her?

For the colouring - she could have light reddish hair and blue eyes from the tones. Do you know if she did?

Lovely restores, Gadget and JF. Looking forward to seeing your colour version, Gadget, but we'll be away for a week to see the latest grandchild and may not have access or time for Rootschatting. My eyes will be happier, but I won't be able to feed the addiction ;D
Cheers,
Peter

No she’s the 1862-1936 one. I don’t know for sure but that branch all have bright blue eyes, so that’d be likely. I’d guess you’re right about the hair. Looking forward to seeing her  :)

Thanks so much for taking an interest!
