I have a child Lawford Buckley on the 1901 Census listed as grandchild to the head Sarah Buckley and listed as the son to the son of Sarah (George Buckley). As George is not married I looked on the birth registers on the GRO site to find out the Mothers name but it is not listed so I assume Lawford is illegitimate. However when looking at the 1911 Census for George Buckley. He is listed as the head. His sister Ada (also written as Eda and Edon) is living with him and so is Lawford. Now Lawford is listed as Nephew to the head. So it now looks like Lawford is the son of Ada Buckley. I am now more inclined to think Lawford is the son of Ada and in the 1901 Census, it was just assumed that he was the son of George perhaps to save Ada's blushes? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
The census records are from the Frampton Cotterell area of Gloucestershire.

The 1901 does not appear to assume that he is Georges son. The family are just listed in age order

Have you noticed that;
1. Ada is described as Feeble Minded on the 1901 census.
2. A Lawford Buckley was imprisoned in Gloucestershire in 1913 - aged 21 -- and moved to the County Asylum? If it's the correct Lawford there may be Asylum Records at the local Archives.

Rosie 99 It states on the transcription of the 1901 census that George is the father. An assumption I think.
Pennies Yes I had noticed Ada was listed as feeble-minded and yes it is the same Lawford in the Goal Register. Did you notice what he was imprisoned for? Does make you wonder if the" feeble-mindedness" was something that could be inherited especially as he ended up in the Asylum.
Capetown Thank you for that.
Ladyhawk Wow thank you. I searched the baptism records but that one must have slipped by me. So now I know. Thank you for the burial information too.
Thanks, everyone mystery solved.
