Hello everyone,
I am after any help you can give me in narrowing down someone in a tree I am doing for a friend. He is Charles Wakefield BIRTH ABOUT 1905 • Dudley, Staffordshire DEATH JAN 1968 • Dudley, Staffordshire, England
married Phoebe Whitehouse in Dudley 1926 BIRTH 4 APR 1907 • England, Staffordshire, Rowley Regis
DEATH SEP 1977 • England, West Midlands, Dudley
I am really trying hard to find Charles's DOB and establish who his parents were?
I am also looking for his army records and trying to find out where he was for the 1939 register as he is not on it with his wife and their children living in Martley, Worcestershire, England
Occupation: Unpaid Domestic Duties
Line Number: 17
Schedule Number: 332
Sub Schedule Number: 1
Enumeration District: QKJS
Borough: Martley
Registration District: 376.1.
I'd be really grateful in sorting this out as I can find lots of Wakefields in the area but can't clarify who is who?

There's a marriage in 1899 in Dudley of a William Wakefield - one of the brides is Jane Rollinson (one or two Ls)
Birth of Sarah, mmn Rollinson 1900 [added: died 1900]

Think I have found Jane in 1901 - RG13; 2747; 12; 15. Born and living in Dudley
married, aged 38, cousin of head of household Thomas Turner. There's a Rolinson relative in the household as well

Thought that one might have been a possibility ..did see a Charles and a Jane on the 1911 census with a sister of a Jane Rollinson ..but can't find it now

Service records after 1920 are still with the MOD and not available online

If he was already serving in the forces then he will not be on the 1939 register

Post deleted, to save any confusion and my feeling an absolute idiot in looking for a Jane Wakefield, as recorded in post 16 by Mabel. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hi John i think we need to wait until sss65 replies to his post ..Hoping he has details of the marriage of Charles Wakefield to see if there is any mention of father's name and occupation
Would agree with you on the census records you posted ;)

I agree rosie, having done this last night thought I would post for info.

I think that's a mistake on the mothers maiden name on the Gro records for William Wakefield as for all the other family born its Rollason
Rosie

Not quite sure why someone was looking for Jane Wakefield in 1871 - that's her married name.
The Rollasons (and variant spellings) can be found in Church St, Dudley in 1871, 81 and 91. Jane's name seems to wander between Mary, Jane and Fanny
Is the suggestion that Jane and William are in some way related, given his mother appears to have been a Rollason

Thanks everyone for your replies..I need to sit down and look at all this information properly. I have very little information about them and it's really hard to get anything that does confirm Charles parents without sending for certificates which I am reluctant to do as I am not sure which Charles is which still. I think researching those ancestors who fall in the "living" history slot is the most difficult?
-
I think getting a copy of the marriage certificate would be the best thing to do to see what information is on it
Rosie
-
I agree.
Trish :)

As the 1926 marriage was at Dudley Register Office, purchase is the only way to verify.
-
Thanks everyone for the replies- working my way through them to try to see if I can cross reference things. rosie 17 where did you get the school admissions info for Dudley for Charles?

I am researching this family for my cousin
It looks like Charles Wakefield was an only child in 1911 after 10 years of marriage for his mother
I believe William Wakefields wife Jane ROLLASON was a relative of his mother ann Mary ROLLINSON ( various spellings) though I can't remember the exact connection .the Rollasons have large families .

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to find her on the 1921 census- can only find Charles with his Uncle and Aunt- Joseph and Rosannah Parkes.

William Wakefield and Jane ROLLASON were first cousins her father James ROLLASON was brother of his mother Ann
-
Do you know anyone on this line who has done DNA test . My cousin is connected to a descendant of Roseanna Rollinson thru her son John Parkes but also thru her uncle Benjamin's line and her brother James ROLLASON but it is thru a single mother so I'm not sure which ROLLASON was the father .
