Title: Haynes Family Bilston/Willenhall
Post by: mccarthyhan on Friday 16 October 20 16:26 BST (UK)
Hi,
Updated my post as much as I can with all the information I currently have, thank you.
I'm helping a friend research her tree. We're back at the moment to Joseph Haynes.

Born around 1843.

Married Ellen Furgason 5th December 1864, Bilston St Lukes.
Groom, Lock Maker, Age 22. Bride Age 20.
Groom Father Joseph Haynes. Bride Father John Furgason.

We've found him on the 1891 and 1871 Census.
In 1871 he was in Willenhall St Stephens, 13 Little London, Occupation Lockmaker. Birthplace, Staffordshire, Willenhall. Living with: Ellen 22, Sons John and Leonard (5 and 3) and Daughter Caroline (4 months).

In 1891 he was in St Annes, Willenhall. Aged 47. Birthplace, Willenhall. Occupation Locksmith. Living with: Ellen 43, Sons Leo, Will, Joseph, Charles (23, 16, 9, 2). Daughters Caroline, Mary, Hannah, Ada (20, 13, 7, 4)

Just wondering where else to look for birth/parents names etc or any more information that could be found about him.

Thanks  :)

A re-think needed perhaps?

Hi yes, one thing that keeps jumping out at us is a newsarticle from 1896 of The Walsall Observer. Here is an article of a suicide of a man named Joseph Haynes aged 59 and also cites his wife Ellen. I have received the death details and it states he was a butcher, but this does not match the census which states he was a locksmith. So very unsure.

Just realised the death I'd put on here was actually his son's on the same name, put it in the wrong part of the folder. ;D

You don't give any info as to his birthplace.  1871 has 2 with the wife as Ellen.  The one born 1843 was born in Monks Kirby Warwickshire & was living there in 1871

The other was born 1848 - not 1843 and was born Willenhall Staffs.  Is this the Joseph you are researching?

We don't know his birthplace nor his birthdate exactly, he said to be aged 22 at the time of marriage.

We're not sure about a birthplace, the census states he was born in Willenhall.

It appears to be the entry born 1848 as son Leonard was registered as Enoch Leonard mmn Furgeson

Do you have the 1864 marriage cert showing his fathers name?

Always helpful if you post full census details so we have all names etc.  If the census says he was born Willenhall then that's what you have to start working with
