Title: Ensor /wilson
Post by: upthetree on Wednesday 14 October 20 16:56 BST (UK)
Hi hoping someone can help find my Great Great Grandmother in 1861.
She was born Harriet Ensor in either Rangoon or Fremantle, Western Australia depending on what census you look at. Her parents were Thomas Ensor born London 1829 he was convicted in 1847 at the old bailey of larceny then sent over to Fremantle in 1850 on the Hashemy .
He gained his ticket of leave then married Mary Ann Wilson. One son Thomas was born 1853 in Fremantle , Harriet followed in 1857 then Richard Lewis Ensor in 1858 in Rangoon.
 All three children were baptised at St Mathias, Stoke Newington on the 29 August 1858 , address given as 13 Arundel Terrace.
  By 1871 all three children were using the surname Wilson I can not find the parents . Richard Lewis was living with his Uncle George Lewis Ensor in Marsh Hill Hackney, Harriet was a servant in Hammersmith but I can not find her parents and Thomas Ensor junior had enlisted at Woolwich dockyard as a Royal marine using the name Richard Wilson in 1868 Guardian on his enlistment records was George Lewis Ensor.
    Where were the family in 1861? Hoping someone can help as their whereabouts is driving me insane.

Some areas of London are 'missing' in 1861

Thank you rosie99 , so I probably will not find them what a shame.
I have subscriptions to both FindMyPast and Ancestry I have tried every way of searching for them I can think of with no luck.
Do you know if there are guardianship records for the 1860s? George Lewis Ensor was living in Hackney at that time.

Thomas jnr is a pupil in Egham in 1861 - RG 9; 758; 24; 24;

transcribed as Enser on Ancestry - aged 7 b Australia

I can't quite read the name of the establishment  - Egham someting. It's quite a small place, so it's not a workhouse/poor law school

Thank you , I found this one. By 1868 he enlisted at Woolwich Dockyard as Thomas Wilson giving his birthplace as Australia and guardian his Uncle, George Lewis Ensor.
