Title: Death Certificate for Margaret “Maggie” Clark - Help
Post by: Terri Kessler on Friday 09 October 20 20:32 BST (UK)
Hi!  My great aunt was born 31 Oct 1899. I have her birth record and also the 1911 census record. It appears that she died but can’t find the death record? She is not on the 1911 census record. The 1911 census record shows that her mother had 5 children and 3 were living:

Birth Record for Margaret Clark:

B 31 Oct 1899
17 Clyde Street, Dumbarton, Scotland
Father James Clark, Rivetter/Journeyman
Mother Annie Clark, maiden name Love
Married July, 1899, Glascow

1901 Census Record:

Maggie Clark, age 1
17 Clyde Street, Dumbarton, Scotland
James Clark, 32
Annie Clark, 24
Mary Clark, 5 years
Maggie Clark, 1
Eliza Clark, 3 mos.

1911 Census Record:

3 Ship Terrace, Dumbarton, Scotland
James Clark, 42
Annie Clark, 34
Mary, 12
Eliza, 10
Robert, 5
Margaret Love, 63, mother-in-law, widow
Mother had 5 children, and 3 are living

1911 Census Record - no Maggie

Appreciate any comments or help. Thanks!

Presume you have already checked that she us not elsewhere in 1911 - relatives etc?

Have you looked for a death on SP?  I can’t see anything in Dunbarton 1901-1911

Hi Carole,

Yes, I have looked on Scotland’s People for a death record.  Have not been able to find her with any relatives.  Also looking for her sister Mary Clark..

There is Mary Clark, died aged 91, in 1990 (mother's name: LOVE)     Death registered at Martha Street, register office, Glasgow         This might well be the Mary you have on the census.     However, if you already have a different date for Mary's death, then this could be Maggie.

Hi Terri

Doesn't help with finding Margaret and Mary, but I wonder if this is the paternity action that Annie Love took against reputed father after the birth of daughter Mary?
