Title: McKenzie Family, Inchicore Dublin
Post by: benchurian on Monday 21 September 20 19:31 BST (UK)
I am drawing a blank with my mother's side of the family. All but one is dead. The father was James McKenzie and the mother Ellen Mary Mooney. I have 95% of the heritage for both parents but it is the children I have a problem with. Irish Genealogy is giving me a "no result" but I get that a lot. LDS search gives me one result; Teresa McKenzie, 16 Southern Cross Ave., Inchicore. The dates are Born .c. 1924 Died 3 Aug 1953. The address is good and the dates correspond to one but the name does not. I did an advanced search on irishgenealogy.ie with the surname only and the mother's name and it drew a blank. This is not possible and would also like someone's insight into why I receive this result.
What I know of the offspring;

I am 99% certain they were all born in Dublin and, beside the above address, 22 Holles St. may come into it somewhere at the earlier years.
Rita B. 1924??  Died1953
Catherine B 19 Oct 1925 D 5 Feb 2015
John B 1934??
William
James   D. 1981??  continued to live in the Inchicore house
******                  still alive in London as far as I know.

Hello,
Irish Genealogy does not have births after 1919.

Family Search has indexes for births and you would then be able to send for photocopies of the births.

Might these be your family?
Margaret 1924 - Rita?

Katherine Mary 1925

William 1931 mmn Mooney

John 1935 mmn Mooney

There are a couple of possibilities for James and there is one other b 1936 who may be the one you refer to as still living.

The mother’s maiden name is not given in those earlier indexes

What I mean about the name is all factors connect in that the birth is 1924 and the death 1953. The address is correct for the family. That is all great except I have 3 birth names;
1.  Catherine on the link you provided. The dates look good.
2.  Rita is the name according to the family.
3.  Teresa is the name on the death record on LDS. The address given is correct.

I have had a few thoughts on this Rita name.  Is it pet name form of Margaret or Margarita?
Is either Catherine or Teresa the birth name and the other a baptismal name?

The informant for Theresa’s death is her father James.
James and Ellen’s deaths are the same address.

Rita can be a shortened form of Margaret.
If there definitely was not a Teresa, perhaps a middle name or even a confirmation name was used.

There is a Theresa Elizabeth birth in the right time frame

Tried the surname and address in the newspapers
Aug 1935 after a minor road accident gives James aged 48 and Kathleen aged 13.

James death Feb 1965 gives him deeply regretted by sons, daughter, son in law, daughters in law.

1974 death of son John, deeply regretted by James and Ellen and brothers and sister, brother in law, sisters in law. (son of James and Ellen, James at least was already passed)

I assume it's one of the sons James death in 1986, his memorials the following years gives several names but as possible living I'll PM them to you if you wish.

Absolutely Sinann, please do. Can you give me the link for the newspaper articles or is that a premium site?

I have no idea who they were referring to with James & Ellen. If they were his parents they were both long gone.
