I'm trying to find details of a marriage that took place in Hanley on 25/5/1826 between James Brindley and Sarah Hambleton. I'd just like to know if there's any other information that might help me to find who these people were. All relevant websites only have indexes so all I've found out is that he was a bachelor.
Thanks

Marriages for that period only have basic info. The original entry will not show fathers names. It will show marital status (ie) bachelor/spinster. Age will be shown as “full” if over 21 or minor if under 21. Witnesses names will be shown

Even that may help!

Saying that, marriages at this time might have further information related to "current" parish locations and witnesses can be helpful. Stoke on Trent Records Office may or may not be able to help - unfortunately Family Search have not named the church :-X
Added: Staffordshire Records Office may or may not be involved with Hanley.

Simpsons about, nearby to the Brindleys in Shelton in 1841
In 1851 Elizabeth seems to be with William + Susannah Simpson in Manchester

Just working my way through Freereg and the baptism mentioned above has been transcribed as
Hanley, Church Name: Methodist New Connexion Circuit
Elizabeth: birth date: 1 March 1831, baptism date: 7 August 1831
parents: James, Sarah - father's surname: BRINDLEY, mother's surname: HAMBLETON
Person abode: Shelton in the Parish of Stoke upon Trent
Notes: Mother recorded as "Sarah daughter of HAMBLETON of Shelton ... Elizabeth is their 4th child
---
Hammerwich, St John the Baptist, 27 October 1833
Thomas, parents: James & Sarah BRINDLEY, person abode: Norton
father's occupation: labourer.
----
There is a Public Members Tree on Ancestry - which gives the death of Sarah BRINDLEY as 10 May 1840 - St Margaret, Wolstanton. Freereg has this transcribed - and gives the age of this Sarah as 18 years.

Even that may help!

Many thanks to all who have taken the time to look into this for me. I did have most of this information before (but not the possible Simpson connection which I will look into later); what I am lacking is baptisms for either James or Sarah. The Wolstanton death of Sarah in 1840 is not her, but she did die that year in Shelton aged 36. James remarried (Mary Ball in 1844) and from that I know his father was Joseph, a potter. But that's all I know and the only baptism of a James to a Joseph I can find is in 1809 and he died in 1827. So I hoped that there might be some info on James and Sarah's marriage that might point me in the right direction. What info that might be I have no idea but I am at the stage of clutching at straws.

I'm wondering if this baptism for 1820 could be James, that it was a late baptism and original birth year not recorded.
Jas. Brindley bp.20/6/1820 Burslem St John, son of Josh. (potter) and Elizabeth, abode Corbridge.
Various thinking's for this: there is only one marriage between a Joseph Brindley and an Elizabeth and that was 11/5/1788 Stoke on Trent to Elizabeth Sonkey. 5 children baptised Burslem 1791-1801. In 1841 a Joseph Brindley b.1766 Potter in Hanley, in 1851 your James states born Cobridge, in 1861 born Burslem, no other baptisms to a Joseph and Elizabeth 10 years either side of 1820.
Worth considering.

Thanks Annette. That's something I hadn't considered and certainly worth investigating.
