apparently he was buried in Birmingham, can anyone advise how i could get hold of army records or graveyard records .
-
If he died during the war, check the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site to see if he is listed there.
If you let us know his name and when he died, it might be possible to find out more.
-
His name was charles henry Marklew, married an irish girl called Kate Ennis, don t know the year he died yet.
-
his wife died in 1923 aged 28 and he was already deceased at that point.
and his daughter was born in 1921, so its probably 1922/23

There is a record of a Charles Marklew being buried in Handsworth Cemetery April 1922
It costs a very expensive £20 to view the actual burial record!!
Deceased Name Marklew, Charles
Month of burial 04
Year of burial 1922
Handsworth Cemetery
Note that his second name of Henry is not mentioned. He was born in Birmingham so perhaps the family wanted him buried there.

GRO is general records office
General Register Office
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
You need to register if you have not already used the site. It is also very useful as it shows mothers maiden surnames on birth indexes before 1911 which are not currently showing on freebmd. It also shows ages at death from 1837

That is a LOT. Surely if the pricing was more reasonable it would increase the income? I do realise that there is a cost for digitising and indexing registers such as these, but pricing outside of the budget of most researchers will probably mean the actual number of downloads is very small.
