These two are my grandfather's sister and brother - Charlotte and Chauncey Ennis, born April 1884 in Merritt's Landing, Wisconsin. I have only the vaguest memory of meeting Aunt Chaddie [as she was called] and I don't recall ever meeting Uncle Chauncey - he was a farmer in northern Wisconsin and was a traditionalist, still plowing with horses well into the 1950s.

Did you want something done with the photo?

Erato posted this in response to my request for photos to restore Dan.

Charming little image...those matching suits with velvet trim wouldn't have been cheap.

One slightly different if you prefer.

Thanks, Carol. I had figured those were home made outfits, though I don't know if g-grandma was much of a seamstress and she must have had her hands full with taking care of the kids, the farm and helping out in the general store. This family had some really ghastly children's clothing for special occasions. My earliest picture has my grandfather in a Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit. And they weren't wealthy.

A tidy from me.

It wouldnt have been cheap to kit young children out with such beautiful boots either .

Thanks to all. They look much better.
Maybe the photo was a birthday treat. If it was a holiday occasion, say Christmas, you'd think they'd put all of the kids together in the picture. It was at least a special occasion in the sense that it required a trip down to Portage which was about 15 miles over poor roads.
