Hi all...
I was wondering if someone could perhaps put a date to this photo please..we believe it's the edge family and it was taken in northwood .stoke on trent...we are trying to put names to the bride and groom etc...which will be much easier if we knew the dates....
Any help greatly appreciated
Regards
Sophie

I've got a photo of my uncle's wedding which was taken 1943 ish. The bride's and bridesmaid's outfits are very like that , so i'd date it 1942-1946. Before 1947 with the longer skirts of the 'New Look'

The groom appears to have some stripes on his sleeve - identifying those may help you work out which of your Edges this couple are.
If you find a likely couple, obtaining their marriage certificate should, may, or will, mention his army ranking/regiment etc under “occupation” which in turn should help confirm if they are the couple in this photograph. :)

Just a thought. Apart from the groom and (presumably the Best Man), there is a distinct absence of young men - it is almost all women, the elderly and children. This might suggest it is a war-time photo with those young men having been called-up.
