I believe Jane BUCHANAN, widow of Andrew BUCHANAN , applied for relief in 1890 after Andrew died 20/1/1890 In Cambusnethan, but I don’t know where to look . At the time she had at least 3 dependent children. Most grateful for any assistance.

His wife's claim is almost identical, her parents are listed as being John McCallum, labourer and Ann Nisbet. "Mother dead, father resides with pauper and earns 2 shillings per day".

Jane's father also makes a claim in 1890. He is 73 years old, a widower, born County Donegal, Ireland. Parents were John McCallum and Mary Campbell, both dead. He is living at 11 Quarry Row with Jane.
He states that he has 3 children -
