good day all.
Looking for help with birth and marriage info on my 3rd gt grandmother.
She was born about 1807 (from death certificate,no parents listed, only husband)
All censuses show she was born inTweedmouth/Berwick.
Her huband was James Hastie ( blacksmith) b1808 statuses state Tweedmouth also. Although dna has proven a link to james hastie born 1808 in edinburgh
She had 8 children to james
She also had an illegitimate child prior to meeting James Hastie.
For the life of me i cannot find birth or marriage records for Rachael/Rachel
I have tried all variations on name. Nothing. I have trawled through bishops transcripts , birth and baptisms records, marriage records but unable to find anything on her prior to 1827.
I am Currently looking into a possible fisher woman connection on the east coast. As a lot of women followed the herring. From the north of scotland to the south of england, many of which married locals and settled.
Any help would be appreciated
Colin

Rachael appears ro be a bit of a mystery.. no birth.. or born under a different name.. her death cert does not show any parentage.
I had all the information on the children and censuses.
Still cannot locate and marriage for her.
A brick wall which seems to be double skinned

This looks promising, have you discounted it

Thomason clark appears in 1841,51 &61 census,
in 41 living in west end, tweedmouth with jane, but no relationship stated
in 51,61 she is living with Jane and her husband John Lowe , listed as mother in law, in foundry cottages, pudding lane tweedmouth,
-
Not Rachels daughter Jane then. :(
-
does not seem so, or it could be, if rachael was born in 1807 she would have been 13/14 when jane was born, possibly underage child taken on by thomasson the mother as her own,
UPDATE**
Jane was the Daughter of John & Thomasann Clark
Baptised on 12/8/1821 in Ford, Northumberland
