Who did he marry?

You say "reputedly born in Newcastle"  Is he on any census confirming his birthplace?

Hi CaroleW, on the 1881 Census he is down as born in Scotland, but his family say it was Newcastle, his Son Benjamin was born in Newcastle in 1851. His wife is named as Annie born 1816, but that must surely be wrong, either that or the marriage wasn't in 1825.

Not sure about the 1861/1871 Census now as that Benjamin may have married as Killbanks 1871 Northumberland.

I think Benjamin has supplied the information for this census and he hasn't got a clue  ;D

Hi crisaneYes, I believe they are a different Gillbanks Family who I have been trying to unite with mine, the Name Benjamin does indicate that there could be a link.

Hi Trish, that does seemto be the family, although the place names are different, and Killbanks could easily be a missunderstanding by the census taker. Thank you.
