Title: Marriage certificate
Post by: Jw67 on Wednesday 26 August 20 15:47 BST (UK)
My great gran Mary Hood married 1907 Glasgow to William Mcmillan.  States her parents were Donald Hood and Grace Anderson cant find marriage certificate,  found them in 1891 and 1901 census.

The marriage is on Scotlands People in 1907.

Do you have Mary on any census prior to her 1907 marriage?  Was she born in Scotland - if so - when?

On the census, where were Donald & Grace born?

I think the original poster is looking for the marriage of Mary's parents.
I have already suggested the following -

"I checked all the Scottish and Irish marriages between 1860 and 1891 but, like you, I couldn't find them.
There is a marriage for Grace Anderson to Donald McNaughton at Tradeston, Glasgow in 1876. This sounds like a possibility, especially as they are at Tradeston in 1891.
If I were you, I'd check the 1876 marriage to look for the name Hood, perhaps his mother's maiden surname or her pervious married surname? Also check the address, you may be lucky and find that it is the same as the 1891 census, which would be too much of a coincidence to ignore".

Oh - I must have misunderstood the query - I thought Jw67 couldn't find the 1907 marriage and may have been looking on the England/Wales Civil Registration Index! Silly me.

1891 shows Donald b 1854 Glasgow and Grace 1853 Lanark

3 children apart from Mary - all b Glasgow

Angus 7
George 6
John 4

Mary was b 1890

Suggest you lookup one of the children's births on SP as it should give parents date and location of marriage

Have checked the 1861/71/81 Scottish censuses and there is no entry for Donald

1901 birthyear is 1856 but still Glasgow as birthplace

In 1901 they have a 9yr old son Neil b Glasgow

On 1911 census, Gorbals, Donald is 52 & Grace, 56

27 years married, 5 children, all living

puts marriage same year as Angus born, 1883/4

Might be worth looking at the 1918 death - Gorbals for Donald Head in case it's a typo

Grace is not the Grace Hood died 1925 Gorbals.

Can't see any of the childrens births registered in name of Hood.

Very odd.

The Donald Head died 1918 Gorbals is the right man - likewise death of Grace is as Grace Head in 1928 Gorbals.   Informant for both is son Neil.

Death certificates show Donald Head was son of George Head, Carter and Christina McGuinness and Grace was daughter of Robert Anderson, Shepherd and Mary Hinch**wood (hard to read).

The Grace Hood in 1925 is also Grace Paterson.

Son Angus died 1917, WW1

Mary and Neil's births are registered as Head - both state parents as Donald Head and Grace Anderson and shown as married 26/6/1883 Peebles on both.   I can't find a marriage.

Don't think Donald and Grace ever actually married - have found son Angus' birth as Angus Anderson, illegitimate, born 26/6/1883 (date they later give as marriage date) at 176 Rutherglen Road, Glasgow, son of Grace Anderson.

Found Mary Head birth certificate on Scotlands people,  fathers name is Donald Head. So changed their name had changed by the time she married in 1907. So new name for me to look into.
Thanks for everyone's input.
