In trying to identify an artist responsible for paintings of Accrington houses by an artist signing him/herself A E Rostron, I have learned of an Annie Elizabeth ROSTRON, born in Salford 1913, died in Bury 1983. Could Annie be the artist ? At present I have no other info on her. She numbered the paintings, so I suspect that she was an active artist, likely to be a member of an art society.

As you don't know whether A E Rostron was male or female - you could have a job finding them
What timescale are we looking at for the paintings?
Where have you seen these paintings? If in a gallery - have you asked them about the artist?
Perhaps a phone call to the following may help

No death in 1983 for that name - no death for that name with a 1913 birthyear anywhere in Lancashire
Am assuming you mean Annie E Thorne b 24.6.1913 died 1983 Bury??
Annie E Rostron married Eric J Thorne in 1933 in Salford

Thanks Carole - a great help. I have only seen photos of the framed paintings, sent by a pal . I am about to contact Bury & Salford galleries. Bob
