Title: Negative of Beryl and Jane Goodwin
Post by: HywelD on Monday 17 August 20 16:25 BST (UK)
Please can someone turn this negative photo into a positive.
I am guessing the people in it are Beryl and Jane Goodwin, and neither of them are living now.

I've inverted it and change the lighting a little. If you'd like the pic restored, bringing out their faces properly, you'll need to scan the original at a higher resolution and repost it for us.
Cheers,
Peter

Thank you very much for this.
I tried scanning the negative at a high resolution but the site would not accept it. It kept giving me a message saying the photo was too big, even though I had reduced the size until it was very small.

Here is my attempt, it looks as if the negative has faded a bit, this is as clear as I can get it.

What scanner are you using HywelD?

Multiplied 500% to enable detailed corrections results in the heads looking like this.  So much rogue pixellation which obscures the fine detail needed by the restorers and results in them having to guess.  Give them what they crave ... 500kb worth of pixels.
Alternatively, if you can do without the surroundings, just do a HIGH dpi scan of the people.

Thanks for all replies :)

Trishanne, yes I think it has faded. I found it in a box among my late partner's possessions but I don't know where it was kept before she came to live here.

Tomkin I am using an Epson DX7400 scanner.

Ian Nelson, thanks for your help but I don't know what you mean by 'I500kb worth of pixels', 'rogue pixellation', and 'HIGH dpi scan'. I am a gardener and I only know how to grow plants. I need technical terms explained very simply.
