I would love any assistance with a birth record for William Evans, born 1802, Llanddaniel, Anglesey Wales. I appreciate any hints, cheers, Donna
-
Cannot find a baptism specific to Llanddaniel. The closest is (FindMyPast - image and transcript) -
William Prichard Evans, 10 Jan 1802, place - Llanidan, son of William and Catharine Evans, Yscuborwen.
I can see an Ysgubor-wen north of Brynsiencyn on an 1888 map.
North of Llanddaniel is a Llansadwrn baptism of William , bap 11 April 1802, son of William Evans, lab'r, Cae Issa and Elizabeth his wife was baptised 11 April.

thanks so much for looking, I really appreciate it. I've just found his marriage record to Ellin Owens, 1822, Newborough, it provides another option, 'Llangainwein', Cheers Donna

I only checked 1802 baptisms. What is the "1802" birth year based on? Broadening years of search - -
Bap 25th Oct 1804, William, son of Evan Evans of Maes y porth by Ann Parry his wife, place Llangeinwen
Bap 19th Sep 1797, Will'm son of William & Mary Evans of Tyddyn Issa, place Llanddanielfab
-
Or, if patronymic:-
William (& Mary) twins of Evan & Jane Lewis of Tan y fonwent (? perhaps) - 26 Jun 1800, Llanddanielfab
William son of Evan & Mary Prichard of Ty'n Rhos - ?? Jul 1802, Llanidan

Thank you both so much. I have death cert for William Evans, collier, died Dec 1868, Morfa mawr, Llanfihangel Esceifiog, aged 66yrs, therefore born abt 1802. He is in census' from 1841 in Gaerwen, Anglesey, his age varies, I understand it is an estimate. The census note his birthplace as Llandaniel, I've noticed his marriage cert in 1822 has Llangainwein. He married again in 1858 to Susan Williams, may be that marriage certificate will offer a clue. Is it possible to order marriage cert's via GRO? (The online index just refers to births and deaths). Thanks, Donna
-
You can still order (paper) copies of marriage certificates from GRO using the GRO index reference, but there is a note on the site to say that "orders will not be completed within the published timescales".
The marriage certificate should give you his father's name.

Do you have a Census reference for William in 1861? I have him in '41 and '51 but '61 is eluding me.
I have found a William Evans, born 1802, place of birth Llanddanielfab in '61 but does not fit your William ie. occupation is Cowman, your William was a Collier. But a second William Evans, born 1802 Llanddanielfab or thereabouts, does muddy the waters.
-
I have found him in '61, his first wife died 1854, he remarried '58, and is listed with new wife Susan and daughter Ellen (1.5 yrs) in Morfamawr, he is still listed as collier, birth is Llanddaniel. Could I please have a hint where to find the marriage option on GRO? I log in and I am able to select births or deaths only, there isn't an option that I can find to search or order a marriage cert. Thank you both very much, Donna
-
On FindMyPast I have found them in '61 transcribed as
William Conna, Head, Marr, 51, Collier, born Llanddaniel
Susan Conna, Wife, Marr, 38, born Holyhead
Ellen Conna, Dau, 13, born Llanfihangel Esc
Address - 1 Morfa Mawr, LLlanfihangel Esceifiog
The surname should read Evans and Ellen's age should read 1 not 10!! William's age, 51 (born c.1810) is correctly transcribed. Hence the value of providing a Census reference.
Susanah Evans and Ellin are at the same address in '71 but puzzled by Susannah describing herself as "Formerly Ag Lab wife"? As mentioned in my previous post I have found a William Evans, born 1802, Llanddaniefab - occupation Cowman.
Ordering marriage cert - have you clicked on "Place an Order"? You will need Volume and Page Number. There is no guarantee the marriage cert will deliver William's father's details (eg. deceased or William base born)

Hi,
You may wish to consider buying the certificate from North Wales BMD - this shows it was a civil marriage in Bangor - their reference BAN/5/E56 - it may be quicker than waiting for GRO.

Thanks Al, I really appreciate it, I'm in Australia so I need an online search and order.
When I open GRO I click 'search the GRO indexes' to find the vol and page number, but it doesn't offer to search for marriages, only searches births and deaths. I assumed I needed that number to order, thanks Hanes, I was navigating around in circles (in marriage and civil partnership tab).
The age of William Evans varies from census to census, I assumed it was due to rounding the ages. In '41 he was 35 yrs (born 1806), '51 he was 49 yrs (born 1802) and in '61 he's only aged 2 yrs from previous census, he was 51yrs (born 1810).
I hadn't noticed 'formerly Ag Lab wife', thanks, the William Evans (cowman) that you mentioned does sound very interesting. Thanks again for looking, Donna

When I open GRO I click 'search the GRO indexes' to find the vol and page number,
Use FreeBMD to find the marriage record/info you need need - district, quarter, volume and page
https://freebmd.org.uk//cgi/search.pl
With this info go straight in to "Place an Order".

Thanks so much Hanes, I really appreciate it

Hi,
My name is Anj and
Mary Romola Helena Bull is my 1 cousin x2 moved. Her mother Helen Romola Poyntz is my great aunt.
I have been trying to find information on Mary for many years now and can't find anything.
Has anyone been able to confirm anything on Mary?
Thanks.

Hi Anj,
I know all the members of POYNTZ family and BULL family; one of the uncles of Mary was in the Royal Army, and living around London.
The mother of Mary died in Morocco in 1968 , her father in 1963.
Mary died around 1995 but I don't know where. She didn't write any will so, the childrren of William ( her Husband) are her heirs.
best regards,
Martine
