Title: Annie Ellen Thomas dob: 1896
Post by: rvb on Monday 10 August 20 12:47 BST (UK)
I wonder if you can date this picture for me please?.  I am trying to track where and when it was taken as that seems to be an official building in the background.  Any help would be appreciated.   My grandmothers  oldest  known whereabouts was from Caerau area south wales in 1915.  Looks like this  could be the womens voluntary service. Not sure though.  Thank you in advance.

I would date this in the 40s.  I have removed the sellotape marks for you and while doing that I noticed all the ladies are in their slippers, which is hard to explain

I agree with Pat - very late 1940s and into the 1050s***. I remember lots of ladies dressed like this when I was a young girl  :D

add   ***  ;D  I did mean 1950s - I'm not as old as Tomkin  ;D

I was in a miners convalescent home in Rhyl many years ago.  For some reason

they wouldn't let you wear shoes inside ??? ??? ??? Years later my mother, as a widow of

an ex miner would go convalescent to Scarborough but she never mentioned having to wear

    slippers all the time.
