Hello,
William (Kaye) PARKINS, the son of Charles Parkins (died 1850) and Emma PARKINS (nee KAYE), was born c1846 Liverpool (Everton?). Other than a short 18 month holiday in Parkhurst Prison 03/1862 to 09/1863, and the 1851 England Census (HO107/2189/415, p.6), I have been unable to find further details.
Can anyone help please ??? ::)
Thank you,

There's a William PAGE Parkins in 1861 age 15 with mother Emma and siblings in Chaucer Place Liverpool. Maybe a mistranscription Page/Kaye ?

Good Afternoon bevo,
I think you may be absolutely right.......the "Kaye" was extracted from a very limited, and now misleading, Public Member Tree (no sources!!).....according to his prison records in 1862 he was a "Shop Boy" as per the 1861 Census so more confirmation.
Thank you for your help.

That looks to be a different family.

William and Frances Parkins with children including William.
Charles Parkins and Emma Kaye married April 1841 @ St Philips, Liverpool.
Emma Parkins b 1847 mmn Keye
I can’t see a birth for William

Good Morning heatherjulie and heywood,
Thank you both for your help.
I believe I have the correct family, confirmed by the prison documentation, but there are so many detail variations. For instance, the 1861 England Census (RG9/2650/165, p.165) has the mother's Christian name transcribed as Jane (??). However, the remaining family details are consistent.
I shall keep searching 8) ::)

It's not easy to read! But definitely ends in an "a".

Thank you ShaunJ.......I agree.

Have you seen the press reports of the remand and committal proceedings in January and February 1862?
I haven't yet found a report of the May 1862 trial.
-
Hello ShaunJ,
Yes..... I have the full report of the Liverpool Police Court proceedings, courtesy of The Liverpool Mercury, thankfully ::)......the formal prison documentation persists in calling him "Michael" whereas the report correctly uses "Nicholas"!!

Hello ShaunJ,
I am sorry if I confused you mentioning "Michael" and "Nicholas", but Nicholas FITZPATRICK a
co-defendant is also part of my research of juveniles committed to Parkhurst Prison, as is William PARKINS 8)
Incidentally, I have contacted "Owners" of Public Member Trees for both FITZPATRICK and PARKINS who had no idea of their criminal backgrounds, although the PARKINS Tree has very little detail anyway.
