Hello Mandie, welcome to Rootschat :D
May I suggest that you consider contacting Scotland's People to ask them if they know anything about this home.
They may be able to tell you where to look or whom to contact for further information on the home.
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/contact-us
In the Category section I would suggest that you pick Comments and Feedback.
There may be other Rootschatters who can help you better than I can.

Hi
Probably not what you are looking for but..
!971 newspaper has an advert for the position of Deputy Matron to work at a childrens home near Milngavie, Glasgow.Children cared for are boys and girls aged between four and twelve years old.
Apply Matron, Westerton of Muglock , Milngarvie, Glasgow.
I wonder if it started off in 1933 as the Scottish Convalescent Home for sick children (Archiblad and Isabella Barr Memorial), Mugdock.
They might be two totally separate establishments though.
Hopefully others might have more useful information :)

I don't know about the 1970's but from the 1930's to the 1950's and possibly later, Westerton of Mugdock housed the Scottish Convalescent Home for Children.

This may help:-
NOT FOUND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR?
This children's convalescent homes directory is a new venture, and sadly there are some counties I as yet don't have any information about. If you know of homes that are not listed, or are looking for infomation about homes in a particular county, please let me know. Thank you.

This would be in East Dunbartonshire Council so you need to contact them.

https://corumproperty.co.uk/property/westerton-of-mugdock-mugdock/
Taken together, these two items constrain the possible dates to between 1933 and 1983.
https://archive.org/stream/b28650311/b28650311_djvu.txt dates from 1954
Probably too old to be relevant, but an interesting read

If the records of the home have survived, I would expect them to be in the archives of Greater Glasgow Health Board https://www.nhsggc.org.uk/your-health/public-health/information-management/other-libraries/nhsggc-archive/# but if not they should know where they are.

Hi there I was a resident of Mugdock Bank Children's home. It was under Stirling District Council and that is where you should do a search in their archives. I went looking for it in Milngavie in the late 90's as I lived in Stirling then, I discovered that the original Manor type buildings had been demolished and a housing estate was built in the site, I know this is five years late but perhaps it helps. Best wishes on your search.
