Esther Gawthrop (2) is listed in the 1861 census for Impington with parents James (57) and Sarah (57), brother Alfred (25) and Jacob (11) who I think is a grandson of James and Sarah.
I can't find any other record of Esther .... any ideas?

I wonder if Esther should be 12, not that I see her on GRO?
1861 for reference: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7YL-RNV

GAULTHORPE, CHARLES mmn NORMAN

So her age should have been 22 on the 1861.

In 1871 Esther and William Pennell who is a Boatman are in WestBromwich Staffordshire.
They are moored at Spon Bridge. Nothing after.

Sorry Jamjar, you beat me to it.

I can’t see them in 1881, either, Colin. :)

Sarah Ann Gawthrop/Gaulthrop, born 1829-1833, appears to have more illegitimate children (Amelia, 12 and Joseph,10) showing on 1881 census.
In 1871 'lunatic'?
Unless 1829 is different from 1833 lady?

Thank you looking. It all looks good ....... I only looked back 10 years !! I have now found her in 1851, listed as Esther Gautrup (10) living with James & Sarah and also Jacob (0) listed as illegimate. Living in Histon (adjacent village)

I've got Gawthrop in my tree too - they were in Littleport, Cambridgeshire and then shifted to Histon.
I see variants as Gaultrop, Galtrop, Goltrip, Gaulthrip, Gaulthirpe, Gatrop, and Gawthrop. They're fun to research in a way, but also a pain. Curious of why no-one could spell their name and whether this came because of an accent. My Gt Grandmother recalled some of them, and thought they were from Germany... but I've also seen them happily being from Yorkshire too :D
