Title: Birth/adoption records in 1940's
Post by: Wendyellen on Thursday 16 July 20 15:44 BST (UK)
I have a family member who was born, probably, in 1941 or thereabouts.  I cannot find a birth record for her however much I try.  I know if a child was adopted this would be the case but I'm pretty certain she was not but, if so, did adoptions take place during the war years?   I would welcome any ideas please regarding finding details.  Many thanks :)

Hi Wendyellen,
At the British Library in London, tucked away in a corner of the reading room is the adopted children's register, there are all on fiche and in years order, if this is any help at all.
Good luck !

Hi
There is a family tree on Ancestry with the person you are possibly looking for ( see surname above) and her mother with a birth date, but of course, care must be taken with other pepoles tree to verify information.

Yes she is - thank you.

Yes I am probably the one you can see on Ancestry - I have been doing it for a few years for her half brother John.

Thank you very much
