Hi everyone
Several trees on A*y have a birthdate of Richard as 3 October 1870 in Bakers Creek, Tasmania with no sources provided. His parents were, I believe, John Isaac Lovell and Sarah Ann Bell.
The Australia Cemetery Index gives his age as 77 when he died in 1939, thus a birthdate of 1862.
I have information on his spouse and children, but the birthdate is elusive. The family for years resided in Victoria, Huon.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't see a registered birth for that date for parents John Isaac Lovell and Sarah Ann Bell, or for Benjamin Lovell and Mary Bell (who I guess are related, as Benjamin is a witness to John and Sarah's marriage)

ADD - this looks likely to be Richard's marriage aged 22y in 1891, so born around 1869

Thank you for those, Matthew. I have hunted quite a bit on the Tasmania
library website you gave me and have been able to locate a lot of information. It is just Richard who is missing at the moment and he is my familial link to the Lovell family.

there are several entries for chn (names unrecorded) for John Lovell and Sarah Bell and this one at the link above is a male b 1871 which could be useful?

Parents John Isaac (sawyer) and Sarah, Lucas's saw-mill, Victoria [early name for Huon]
Keep in mind that there were several other Lovell families in the area in the baptism records at the same time, and that the church denominations changed for baptisms within the same family, so if this Richard Lovell doesn't fit, there may have been others
On a side note, the obituary for John Isaac makes interesting reading

The Australia Cemetery Index gives his age as 77 when he died in 1939, thus a birthdate of 1862.
His death notice says he was in his 73rd year in August 1939. I don't know where the 'Edith' comes from, wasn't his second wife Ann Eden?
