I have a photograph of my great grandfather taken some time between 1870 and 1900.He has four chevron on his left serve and crossed rifles above them. Unfortunately my scanner is kaput so I cannot put copy up on the forum. Is there any way in which anyone could help? If any meme!bet is on Facebook I could send photo via messenger.

Your post seems to have got overlooked! Which way up are the chevrons, point up or down and are they on the left lower sleeve only?
Do you know what regiment he was in - it sometimes makes a difference.

A snapshot would be good enough. Include one of the back.
