Title: Place of death?
Post by: KitHannay on Thursday 02 July 20 16:25 BST (UK)
Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out what happened to my ancestor James. Under the 'date and place of death' section, does it say 'gen hos' as in general hospital? I know he 'died of his wounds' so I assume he was hurt in the battle of ginchy on 9th September and died a week later?

I interpret it as

Gen(eral) Hos(pital)
France

Yout thought about Ginchy looks highly likely, the battalion suffered 184 killed wounded and missing on 9th.
