Trying to trace an ancestor - Lilian May MORGAN- who was a house/parlour maid (domestic) in WYKE, Gillingham, Dorset in 1930's. Are there any large estates/houses within this village that she may have worked in please? She had a daughter (Daphne Mary) in 1937 at this address - Cennick House, 11 St. Alban,s Avenue, Bournemouth which seems to have been a Free church home for unmarried mothers at this time. I have found a death record for a Lilian May Morgan in Jan 1985 (age 68), burial at Gillingham but it states 'no name' for father and mother.
Many thanks!

Here's a starter from 1895:

Have you looked for her on 1939 Register?

Could this be the Lilian Morgan that died in 1985, they are together in the prewar register. The 1985 probate shows address as 51 Coppice Street, Shaftesbury.

Where have you found this information.

She could have been a servant to someone not living in a large house/estate. 1939 register for Wyke area has servants for Farmers and other similar occupations.

Can you say if the daughter was adopted?
