Title: Consanguinity mentioned in marriage record John L Stapleton to Bridget Maher
Post by: ellenkish on Saturday 27 June 20 15:12 BST (UK)
Does anyone want to take a shot at deciphering this record?  If I'm not mistaken, I think that there may be a mention of a dispensation in the record - but the image is certainly not clear.  I edited it to be as clear as possible ... My initial translation would be:

"Married by Rev ... John L Stapleton to Bridget Maher
il dispensation in 4'+4' ........
... Richard Russell + Mary Carroll"

This record was found in Irish Catholic Parish Registers for the Diocese of Cashel & Emly, Parish of Templemore, Marriages 1849-1881.  It is available through ancestry.com and also at NLI using this link:  https://registers.nli.ie//registers/vtls000632699#page/155/mode/1up

Thanks in advance for the help.

I can make out "in 4o & 4o gradu consanguinitatis"

"in the 4th & 4th degree of consanguinity".

"The Concepts of Consanguinity and Age of Majority in Genealogy"

"Worksheet for Tracing Dispensations of Consanguinity"
www.islandregister.com/cworksheet.html

The above website is by a Canadian genealogist so ages of majority were different to Ireland and Britain.
