Title: Red Cross WW1 Internee Records

I have the record for german born Georg Brooker in the Red Cross WW1 internee records as follows

Georg Brooker age 31
Art-Rgt 65 Res
Edinburgh 137 Morrison Street
Döttingen, Württemberg (B)

George was a butcher/sausagemaker in the 1911 census married to an english lady.  He was interned and his last address was in Morrison Street.  I do not know what the second line of the record entry relates to i.e. Art-Rgt 65 Res.  Could anyone help?

It's his Regiment listing. Looks like Georg was serving with the 65th (4th Württemberg) Field Artillery. Not sure what the 'Res' means, though.

EDIT: Ah, maybe it's something like 'Residence' and actually applies to Edinburgh in the next line.

Only so quick because I spent some time studying my great-grandfather's Red Cross POW record heading the other direction!  ;D

Interesting name for a German, Brooker. Do you know if it had been anglicised at any point? Perhaps from 'Brücke'.

"Res" is possibly Reserve or Reservist.

Ah, yes that would make more sense given he was an internee rather than a POW.

Thanks to you both for your help.  Yes, Georg was Brucker originally but after he married he seemed to be known as Brooker.  Maybe people just thought it sounded like that as some records have him as Brucker and some as Brooker. 

M_ONeill - That Red Cross knowledge comes in useful when you least expect !
