Title: Thomas Lindsay Neilson b.21 Nov 1876 *** COMPLETED ***
Post by: Chiad Fhear on Thursday 18 June 20 20:44 BST (UK)
Hi there

My Granduncle, THOMAS LINDSAY NEILSON, was born on 21 Nov 1876, at High Street, Blairgowrie, Perthshire Scotland.

I have him in the 1881 and 1891 Scottish Census returns residing at High Street, Blairgowrie, Perthshire ... then it's all down to guesswork  ???

There is no record of Thomas in the 1901 Census or Registers of Marriage or Death in the Scottish records, but in the 1901 Census for Northallerton, Yorkshire there is a Thomas Neilson, Boarder, age 24 - the date more or less fits - a Linoleum Factory Worker, born Scotland, residing at Romany Road, South View, Northallerton in the home of William Johnson, Joiner and Carpenter, his wife Mercy and daughter Lucy.

I would love to know if this is "my" Thomas.  Can anyone help me?

Stay safe and best regards

Have you looked for him in 1911 or 1939, or a death anywhere?

Good morning and many thanks to everyone for their input.

After many years of trawling websites in search of them I have, at last, demolished the brick walls that Thomas and his brother had become.  Both have appeared in numerous South African records.

My (aged) 2nd cousin will be delighted with the outcome as well.

Stay safe
