Title: Thomas SLATTER - 1807 Towersey - Parents?
Post by: hmserge on Saturday 13 June 20 21:38 BST (UK)
Hi,

My family and I are trying to find the parents of Thomas Slatter born 1807 Towersey (we think this was in Buckinghamshire but now under Oxfordshire).  He married Mary Clark.  His children were Noah, Esther, William born 1838 and Shem (that we know of).

We’ve searched the best that we can but can’t seem to find any birth record for him in Towersey.  If anyone could help find his parents this would a great help to us.

Thank you

Does he consistently give that birthplace on census?

Have you got the marriage record for him in case any witnesses were Slatter which might help to find him.

Hi and thank you for your reply.
Yes on every census up until 1883 he gives the birthplace of Towersey.

I can’t find any marriage for him, I think it was on William’s birth record that it says parents Thomas Slatter and Mary Clark.

He is a lodger in High Wycombe in 1861 and in 1871.

His occupation is always tailor.

Can’t understand why we can’t find a birth for him.

Thanks

Hi Trish  :)

Thanks for replying and looking for me.

You could be right there about the brother and mother in the census.  I think Towersey was very small (and still is),

Do you think Mary and Richard could be Thomas Slatter’s parents?

I’m sure I missed a child called Richard off the list as Thomas and Mary’s son.  So this Richard as the father of Thomas could be correct?

Hi,

The original Towersey registers are available  to view at Ancestry.co.uk if you have a subscription.

However, i've just looked and could not see an  entry for a Thomas Slatter in the baptisms between 1792 and 1813.

Hi and thank you for looking.  There’s a few names and the areas to look through there. :)
Are you related to the Slatter’s from Haddenham?
