Joan Gibson b 03/02/1909 marries Frank Gray b 07/06/1907, in 1931.
All registered in Beverley
Frank is killed in 1941
The 1939 register has Joan Gray, together with Franks widowed mother, living in Beverley.
There is a note changing the name Gray to Hutchings, this is dated 24/02/1967, so the marriage must have taken place before this date
I can find the death of a Joan Hutchings with the correct birth date registered 1980 in Hull
I cannot find the Gray / Hutchings marriage, even tried Gibson / Hutchings thinking she may have reverted to her maiden name.
Can anyone find
Thanks in anticipation

This is the only one I can find - Alberts birthdate was 1913 so only 4yrs between them
Joan Gray March qtr 1974 Northumberland South Volume 1b Page 727
Spouse Albert E C Hutchings
Deaths
Albert Edward C Hutchings aged 86 Birth 10 Nov 1913
Registration Nov 1999 Beverley
Register Number: 23A
District and Subdistrict: 5421A
Entry Number: 268
The 1939 entry suggests a marriage date of 24.2.1967. Looking at the entry below - that Barnes/Thompson marriage was in 1950
Are either of their 2 sons still alive?

'Albert Edward Cyril Hutchings [Peacock]' is in one private tree on Ancestry.
Joan is in several trees, none show the marriage details.
Worth trying to contact the private tree owner?
Cannot see Albert's birth.

Can see this birth:
Births December quarter 1913
Albert E C Peacock mmn Smith Tamworth 6b 855
Ada Smith married Albert S Peacock in Lichfield in 1912.
Ada Smith is given as Albert's mother on Staffs births records.
Staffs has birth as 11 September 1913 so incorrect person?
-
If she does not marry Albert Hutchings this is a bit/lot irrelevant.
But I can see a birth for an Albert Samuel Peacock (and army records) in 1889 but no death, and a possible death for an Albert S Hutchings and 1939 for Albert Samuel Hutchings, but not with Jane.
Think Albert S Hutchings did not marry an Agnes until 1954 - and her surname given as Hutchings and Webb so had been living together for some time.
When/if does he change from Peacock to Hutchings and his son does also?
-
Thanks for the replies, wonder if the marriage took place abroad
Joan's first husband was in the Royal Navy Reserve
Just a thought

My understanding is that the date given against updates to the 1939 register are the date the entry was made, not the date of the event.
Thanks for the input

Death certificate for name of informant (in the hope that it is a relative)?
-
There are trees on Ancestry with photos of the marriage of Frank and Joan, but then do not have the correct death as Hutchings for her. The pictures must have come from somewhere. She is often referred to as Joan Margaret.
The son, Michael, had an obituary in the Daily Telegraph (but I do not have a subscription). Died in 2011.

There is a marriage for Albert E C Hutchings to Violet M Tatton March qtr 1944 Staffordshire. Violet Mabel Tatton was b 1904 Wolverhampton and died 1981 Wolverhampton. Probate entry shows she left over £21,500
A tree on Ancestry has her marriage but no details of spouse - marked as private

I have spoken to the person who originally posted the picture of Frank and Joan on Find a Grave. Frank is a distant relative of his
He doesn't really know much, his comments
The closest I can find so far to fit the pieces together is a Jane Gray
who married a Albert Edward C Hutchings in Jan 1974. This Albert Edward
C Hutchings died in Beverley in Nov 1999 and was born 1913 in
Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.
The 1939 ceased to be manually update in 1952, however, the NHS records
kept updating the register to 1991 so it's possible that the green
addendum is correct ... ??
My comments / thoughts
As I understand things the date against an entry in the 1939 register
is the date the event was recorded in the register, not the date of
the event
What if Jane and Albert lived together as man and wife, Jane changed
her name at the doctors (these were all paper records), the 1939
register was updated
If Jane re-married she would lose her war widows pension
Did something happen to prompt a marriage in 1974, Edward receiving a
pension or something similar

The only way to rule the 1974 marriage in or out is to buy a copy of the cert & see if details fit Joan’s profile. If her fathers surname is Gibson - bingo!
