I have been researching my WASTIE (and variants) ancestors for many years - they are mainly from Oxfordshire, but occasionally from Berkshire.
Courtesy of an entry in The Oxford Dictionary of Family Names, I have come across a Thomas WASTEE (sic) who had two children baptised in Thatcham - Thomas in 1629 and Jane in 1634.
Can anyone find any references to Thomas Snr., or any other WASTEE/WASTIE entries.
Many thanks for any help.

Hi Pennie,
There is a marriage between Thomas Waster & Katheren Swayne, by Banns, on 14 Sep 1612, a burial for Thomas Wastell on 15 Nov 1658, a burial for Katheren Waster, a widow, on 27 Sep 1661, a burial for Christian Wastee on 15 Jun 1630 and a burial for Katheryn Wastee, daughter of Thomas, on 15 Jul 1625.

Hi Peter and Kim ...
Many thanks for your replies and the information - all extremely useful!
I'm trying to further the ancestry and my 7 x great-grandfather, Richard WASTIE ("yeoman of Eynsham" according to his will). I have ascertained that his mother was Christiana, as her will refers to her sons Richard and James (and there are no other WASTIE's who fit the bill!). I then found a will for a Thomas WASTIE (late 1590s) who appoints "Cristiana his widow" as his executor.
I'm therefore fairly confident that Richard's father was a Thomas. A Thomas WASTIE was born c1542 in West Hendred and there are no further records (marriage/children's baptisms/burial) for this individual in the parish, so I think this might be "my" Thomas. Also, Richard's son married a girl from West Hanney, a parish very close to The Hendreds.
However, when I found the other Thomas (of Thatcham) I was concerned that there was another "candidate", so am very pleased to know that he married and remained in Thatcham!
Thank you again for your help.
