Title: Workhouse Records Nottingham
Post by: Hattierose on Monday 08 June 20 13:33 BST (UK)
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to access records of workhouses in Nottingham and Lincolnshire during the 1930s.

I am looking to see if there is a connection between two women who both gave birth to babies with the same father.

One is Dorothy Elizabeth Carroll (Anglo Irish) who gave birth to a baby boy John Michael in 1935 in Nottingham, and a lady called Ruth Williams to gave birth to a girl called Margaret in 1929 in Spilsby.

John and Margaret match as half siblings on ancestry and we know that they share a father.  We also know that he was European Jewish based on their ethnicities.

Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Please be aware that many repositories impose a closure period of up to 100 years for records identifying individuals.

At the bottom of that page Stan mentioned, it says Nottingham Archives hold admissions and discharges, 1856-1920.

As I posted on the other post https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=832377.0
you can see what records are held on the hospital database https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=732&page=42
