Title: decypher word that describes child in 16th century shropshire baptism record
Post by: okkool on Sunday 07 June 20 19:21 BST (UK)
hello:

on this page clip there is 3 instances of a word that describes a son or daughter (see red point)

Is this an adjective that means baseborn? what is the word?

regards Brian

Hi Brian,

Looks like "suposed". Must have been some doubt about parentage!

Agreed.  I have seen supposed, alleged, and reputed recorded in baptisms where the child's parents were not married to each other.
