Title: How to find someone in New York?
Post by: Kessa on Sunday 31 May 20 03:04 BST (UK)
Among my old family history papers I have discovered some letters from a lady who lived in England in 1990 who then moved to Fort Fairfield, Maine in 1991 and at some time to Tillson in New York and may be at Saugerties in New York.  Are there any online sites that would help me discover this lady's current address?
I would love to be able to write to her and tell her that yes, we are related and I have been able to prove this through DNA.  Back in 1991 we had no way to connect our two families and over the years have lost touch with each other.
Many thanks,
Kessa

Have you tried White Pages?

Yes, I have tried the white pages but the lady in Saugerties only comes up in premium white pages that I haven't got access to.
Thanks

I can find her on these but I still can't dig deep enough to get her address.
Thanks

Maybe you could try a personal ad in the local paper:

Yes, that's a good idea, I might try that.

You could try this:  https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2199956  Some of the addresses are out of date, but you might get lucky.

I would also try looking for her or any younger relatives on social media.  Or see if a Google search brings up an e-mail address.

Thanks, I did find her on Family Search but no full address.  I will try to find her half sisters in Maine.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks, I did find her on Family Search but no full address. ...
If it gave you a city and state, then google her name with that city, state and see if anything shows up.

I would also try looking for her or any younger relatives on social media.

Facebook is often very helpful.  I was able to work out my connection to some DNA matches by looking them up on FB.   :)

To my knowledge this lady is unmarried and has no children.  I did try Facebook but no luck - just too many people with her name.  I will go back to looking in Maine for her half-siblings and hopefully one of them will know her address.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
