Please would you be able to tell me anything about this photo - approx. date, rank etc.
The only thing known is that he is possibly a policeman in Bristol. Thank you.

He is wearing a police duty armband https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duty_armband
The Short stripe on the lower sleeve is called a "hashmark" each indicating years of service. Each hashmark might indicate three, four, or five years of service.

The background looks like 30's/40's style but that doesn't help with the uniform  ;)
