I was hopeful that one of you experts out there can advise me on which area Drumchapel would have came under during the latter part of 1800s and early 1900s?

Paul, for the period you are looking, Drumchapel was in Dunbartonshire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumchapel

Would it be classed as New Kilpatrick though, within Dumbartonshire?
