Title: POW Postcard Stalag 344 Lamsdorf
Post by: bainmb on Sunday 24 May 20 21:21 BST (UK)
I'm looking for some help with the stamps on the this POW postcard. What does the 18 refer to on the left of the Stalag 344 stamp?  What does the red 7064 refer to?

The stamp says Stalag 344 Gepruft 18

Gepruft means checked (i.e. censord). The 18 refers to the number of the censor. Each censor had their own number so the authorities knew who to blame if they double checked and found something illicit had slipped through.
