Title: FINLAY / MCDONALD
Post by: douglasfleming1 on Thursday 21 May 20 09:07 BST (UK)
Hi,

Totally newbie here and can’t seem to get anywhere.

My mother’s father is ROBERT LAWRENCE FINLAY born 10/10/1941 WINCHESTER. I can see log off this to say mother’s surname MCDONALD but stuck here. Is there anyway to view the birth certificate?

I know his father was also ROBERT FINLAY and mother ANN/E FINLAY.

Ann had sisters known only by nicknames Reta (possibly Margaret) and Chrissy and brother. Reta never married so should be under Mcdonald. Chrissy did marry.

Although ROBERT FINLAY born in Winchester. The family of MCDONALD resided Edinburgh last known 1960s.

Any help much appreciated!!

Apologies correction - mother ANN/E MCDONALD.

If you don't have the birth certificate,  then there no way to view other than to purchase.

GRO Online are still processing orders, albeit taking longer than in normal times.

But it sounds as though you already know most of what the birth certificate will contain (the identity of the parents, at least).

If you want to pursue Scottish roots then you will need to use ScotlandsPeople.
