Title: Help needed with Gunter search

Hi there
Am looking for guidance in resesrching my 4x Great Grandmother.
All information I have on census is either born India, east Indies or foreign shores.
Her name is Isabella Gunter born 1810., She married a Thomas Watkins and they lived in Much Birch/Dewchurch. I have searched some sites but hitting a brick wall
Any help will be appreciated

Thanks CaroleW, I have all the census's with Thomas and Isabella up to their death. Just really stuck on how to research Isabella before marriage to birth.

According to the censuses for 1881, 1891 and 1901 she was born in the West Indies so that seems much more likely than India.

Thanks a lot. Info I have is
1851 birth America
1861 birth East Indies
1871 birth India.
Back to the drawing board then see if any info can be found on West Indies

I did notice a Thomas/Elizabeth Gunter in Herefordshire 1841/1851 Census who wre old enough to be Isabella Parents.

1841 Thomas is a Labourer/1851 on Relief.

Its it possible he was in the Military at some stage when Isabella was born?


Thomas married Elizabeth WILLIAMS 22 Mar 1808 (Anc)

F/S has these children Bapt Hereford to them:
Ann Sophia 1808
Joseph 1813
Mary 1815
William 1817
John 1819
Elizabeth 1821
Sarah 1823
Eliza 1826


So a 5 year gap between Ann Sophia and Joseph.

I may be way off but just a thought.

Thanks for the info. Good base to start avenue of research, as the Watkins line that Isabella married into is from Herefordshire.
