I'm looking for the birth or any information on a
Thomas John Waterhouse dob 3/3/1920 born in Salford.
He married a Margaret in 1942,
All i can find is his death in 1986,
Thank you,
-
Was he on 1939 Register?
-
No couldn't find him,
-
He died in Salford but what evidence do you have that he was born there?
-
Marriage reg just shows Thomas. Civil marriage so can’t be looked up. Buying a copy of his marriage cert will hopefully show his fathers name
3 children born to the marriage between 1944 - 1950. Are you in touch with them? They may be able to help
He died 11.6.1986 but no will - administration only
-
That's the information that my niece gave me.
Its her husbands family that she asked me to look into,
He died in Salford. so it could be they think he was born there,
-
Could have been born anywhere. He was only 19 in 1939 so his entry would be redacted then opened once he died. He died 1986 so I would have expected any entry to be visible.

If you look on www.freebmd.org.uk there is no Thomas J Waterhouse birth in the March or June quarters of 1920
There are only 3 births nationally for that name in 1920 - Chorley, Prestwich, Chorlton - none with J or John as a middle name
The Chorley entry died 1996 & the Prestwich one 1985. The Chorlton entry was Thomas W
Even allowing for an incorrect birthyear of 1919 or 1921 produces no results. You need his marriage cert - details can be found on freebmd
-
There is a tree on Ancestry which only shows the same details given in your opening post and the death of wife Margaret in 2008. The tree owner is surname Waterhouse
-
Did he have any siblings? Can anyone remember any aunts or uncles?
-
There is a birth in Prestwich, June quarter 1920 which would fit re timing.
I think the family are to be seen without Thomas in 1939 but we are not allowed to share 1939 information. You could try that but unless you have marriage details it will not confirm anything.
-
CaroleW the tree on ancestry is my nieces father in laws.
-
Could he have been in army or navy at start of WW2? He wouldn't have been on 1939 Register if he'd already joined up.
-
The Thomas Waterhouse b Prestwich died 1985 - reply 7 refers
-
Yes I your post afterwards Carole but had my doubts.
The death in Prestwich, if I have the right one, gives a birth date of 28th December 1920.
This man can be seen in 1939.
The birth registration is in June quarter 1920 which could fit a March birth. However, 1939 register shows someone else who could fit.
I left it, hoping that we might find out more about the family or details from the marriage certificate.

Hi
There is a tree on Ancestry showing Thomas Waterhouse b Prestwich June qtr 1920. Father Thomas & mother Agnes nee Fenton. He died Dec qtr 1985 Bury
However - the death in 1985 in Bury shows a birthdate 28.12.1920 which in no way links to a June qtr birth reg ??? There is a birth reg Jan 1921 mmn Charnley which would fit better So will email the tree owner
The June 1920 birth mmn was Fenton and there is a 1919 marriage in Prestwich between Thomas Waterhouse & Agnes Fenton
Until you buy the 1942 marriage cert and establish his fathers name and occupation we can’t say whether that is the correct birth
-
That is why I left the post :)
-
Hi Heywood
I should know better by now than to trust info in family trees without checking ::). Thank goodness you posted as it made me look up the 1985 death
-
Thank you all for the help, :)
my niece is going to order his marriage certificate hopefully she will get some answers, :)
