Title: Is there a town called Cringer?

This marriage record gives a place of origin that looks like "Cringer" but I can not locate any such place in a Google Search. Can anyone make a suggestion?

It certainly registers as a place name if you search for it in google or google maps, various hits come back as 'Cringer, Knockainey' and it seems to be located in the vicinity of Knockainey Hill.

On Eircode it gives the address of houses there as Cringer, Knockainey, Kilmollock, Limerick
Looking at the old map on GeoHiv those houses are in the townland of Kilballyowen, the houses being right on the border with Knockainy West

Thank you for providing these links. It is very much appreciated. It seems Cringer is less of a town than I expected. Perhaps in 1814 it was more likely a large farm perhaps.

Would the name Cringer rhyme with Ginger or finger?

As Sinann says, it's right on the border between the townlands of Kilballyowen and Knockainy West.

It gets its own specific mention in the Tithe Applotment Books, in the occupation of Thomas Fitzgerald (1833):

1840s newspaper notices describe it as 'the Lands of Cringer... situate in the Parish of Knockany'.

In the 1901 census Killballyowen had 14 homes and Knockainy West had 29. Cringer was a small part of that combined area. So it may have had say 10 homes. Perhaps less.
