I've reached a dead end researching this direct ancestor's parents and siblings.
Rees GEORGE:
Born March? 1831 at Laugharne, Llansaderimon, Carmarthenshire.
1852 joined the Royal Artillery and served for 21 years. Discharged 14 October 1873.
Married Margaret Anson MANDER 24 July 1862 at Southhampton, Hampshire.
Died 10 June 1881 at Epsom, Surrey.
Children of Rees and Margaret
Rees George 1864-1955
Francis George 1866-1866
Margaret George 1868-1960
Annie George 1871-1968
I have a copy of Rees' marriage certificate that shows Rees' father as James (fairly sure, definitely starts with Ja and ends with s), occupation Farmer. However, can't find anything about James George or family.
Any help really appreciated!

Checked parish register for marriage of Rees and father's name definitely James. Marriage in Laugharne 25 November 1830 for James George & Margaret John. Also in Laugharne, James George of Haverfordwest & Eleanor Hugh married 11 Aug 1836.
The place name given in 1881 census is Llansadwrnen, the parish to the west of Laugharne.

There's no obvious death reg for James George so probably died before the start of civil registration in July 1837.

Thanks Carole and osprey for replying so quickly and welcoming me. The wealth of information you have both provided is simply excellent. It's filled in the gaps and provided other leads for me to hunt down from far-off Australia.
Again, thanks a lot!

Hello, I found this link to national archive that has Margaret Ansons surname as Mauder. Also entries list all dates of birth and baptims dates and locations for children whilst Rees was in the military.

Rees was my Great Great Grandfather.

Thanks cousin Byron. This is excellent! I'll have a look at the link as I've not seen it before.
Rees is my great grandfather
Rees' wife's name is Margaret Anson Mander. I've seen it spelt Mauder as well. The Manders were originally Maunders in the 1700s
Margaret's father is Francis Mander, a Sgt in the Royal Artillery. Rees was also in the Royal Artillery as a Master Gunner.
Any family info you have would be most welcome. I have some, but a lot of it disappeared from family memory when Rees Jr. emigrated over here to Australia.
Rees (1831-1881), to Rees (1864-1955) emigrated to Australia in 1885, to Walter (1897-1987), to David (1951-present).

Look forward to it. So my descent is: rees 1889 > Rees LLewellyn 1890-1972>Milton Hornby 1926-2002>Byron 1965-present (Melbourne Australia) Is there a more secure method of communication that you recommend? Byron PS my sons name is Rhys (always liked it!)

Hi Byron,
I've sent you a personal message. We are quite closely related, my dad (Walter Hornby) used to talk of Milton quite a lot.
