Title: William Scamp
Post by: AMAT on Monday 04 May 20 09:24 BST (UK)
Hello, does anyone know what happened to William Scamp born in 1851 to Riley and Sarah Scamp in Kent.  I can see him in the 1861 census with 8 siblings and have tracked what happened to them but Willam Scamp is not mentioned after that. I cannot see that he died, emigrated, went in the army or went to prison, wondered if anyone had any evidence of what might of happened to him?

Yes, I get that - trying to go thru the names, just in case his might have changed, sometimes they do for odd reasons.

Thanks Heywood, I’ll stop looking  :)

One last note... several arrests in 1893 for William Scamp, alias Matthews.

Hello, does anyone know what happened to William Scamp born in 1851 to Riley and Sarah Scamp in Kent.

You've probably got all these already but there's 8 children shown for him with Louisa LEE and another 6 for him with Mary Ann Jones in Roger Baker's "The Family Tree of Samson and Celia SCAMP".

There's also a chapter "The Scamp family" in Richard Edmund's "The Early Romany Boswells, A Family History 1650-1810 Part 2: Boswells in Parish Records and the Blewitts, Scamps and Lovells"
