Title: Vernon Taylor where are you ?
Post by: ladyaethelflaed on Sunday 03 May 20 11:43 BST (UK)
Hello, This may be the second time that I have posted this request but I had a problem to register my fault ! so here goes.  What I know for definate is that Sydney Taylor aged 30, married Martha Brown 18/10/1919. Sydney was a general labourer living at Greenwood St Wem, Martha was a general dealer living at 27 Barker St Shrewsbury. The fathers were Vernon Taylor deceased, general dealer and William Brown deceased labourer. The married couple signed the register with a X. The witnesses were Alice and Robert Standing. It may be that one or both may have been travellers but of this I am not sure, family rumours have hinted at it !  If it were possible to shed a little light on Vernon and family It would be great, I live in hope.

Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat  :)
There are several trees on Ancestry.co.uk with the family which supports the theory that they may have been travellers. Of course ready made trees might not be always correct so must be taken with a pinch of salt but they seem pretty comprehensive..
Sidney Taylor/Lock, father Vernon Taylor/Lock. Lots of info in the trees to perhaps get you started perhaps with a free trial or sometimes free in libraries.
Best wishes
Cathy

Hi, once again many thanks, I managed to find Nekoda Jones who married into the Taylor family
on the 1841 census, surprisingly though travellers they appeared to be in Newport Salop when the census was taken in 41 and 51 perhaps it was a seasonal thing ! I shall continue the search. Destiny
is all !

I'd agree with you there on where they are being seasonal.

Vernon Taylor is my 3X great Grandfather.

I believe he also used the name Vernon Jones and Vernon Locke
