This man was my second great uncle and he stayed in Nova Scotia when the rest of his family went to NZ aboad Breadalbane in 1857. And he is the only one I know nothing about.I think he married Alexandrina 'Lexie' McDonald in 1853 in maybe Boularderie, Victoria, NS no sure about the Boularderie bit. She was born 02 March 1837 not known where but perhaps Boularderie, and died 12 April 1919. They apparently had 10 children.I have a list of what I think are the childrens names. Donald died 3 May 1917 perhaps South Dalhousie,
I've been 'finding' or not, this family for many years and if I can sort this out it wil be the answer to many questions.
Thanking you in anticipation

The anc tree with lots of information looks to belong to you. Seems to have a comprehensive list of children and some you have found.
For those searching with a subscription to anc, this is the link to show what has/has not been found.

It may be you will only find the marriage bond/license for Donald in church records. There seems to be a gap in the marriage records from 1849 to 1858 on the Nova Scotia Vital States site

Bit of a summary...
It appears we are looking at 2 Donald Mackenzie/Mckenzies, both born in 1836.
The Donald born 08 Feb 1836 and living in Boularderie, Victoria County (and whose findagrave entry was posted earlier by *Sandra*) was married to a Mary according to his son Adam's 1903 marriage record. The birth record for Adam's brother Charles Malcolm gives Mary's maiden name as Mcrae. Donald died in 1917.
The Donald married to Lexy was born 12 Mar 1836 according to the 1901 census. They were living in River John, Pictou County. This is the widowed Donald who is found living with James Primrose Fraser and his wife Catherine Mckenzie in the 1921 census. So he is still alive at this point.

That one was discounted in the same reply quoting the 1921 census. reply 8
It is suspected Donald McKenzie died 1922 but sadly he isn't listed as buried at Four Mile Brook Cemetery.

OK good...hard to keep track sometimes.

No prob - I was hoping you could find the suspected 1922 burial.

No luck there, I'm afraid.

Come to think of it, don't think I found Alexanderina McKenzie in 1919 either.
Sandra

Nor did I....

Well, sometimes one needs to stand on one's head to find info ;D. I think this might be the death of Lexy.
McKenzie, Mrs D (as on the record)
Date of death 12 Apr 1919
Age 83
Residence Dalhousie NS (this is where they were apparently living, if I remember correctly)
Married, housewife
Husband Donald McKenzie
Religion Presbyterian
Buried in Dalhousie Cemetery in Dalhousie NS
Record set District 10, River John, Pictou County
The original record is available to view for free at the Nova Scotia Historical Vital Statistics website.
Still no sign of a death record for Donald. I don't know if there is a contact link for the cemetery to check if Donald might be buried with her.

I am extremely happy with all this information especially the last bit as that confirms what I thought was Alexandrina's death.
I am so grateful for all this wonderful info and will keep going till I connect with the relative that started me on this chase.
Best wishes from Down under
