Hi there have been looking at the 1871 census. In Curry Rivel a couple of miles from Huish Episcopi, there were a family of Morris's living at 3, Westover Knap Lane. The poor woman was a widow and had 7 children, one only a few months old, so they had no man of the house and they were living on what were benefits in those days.

Charlotte Morris head of house widow age 40.

Henry son age 12.

Martha dau age 10 who was deaf and dumb from birth.

Mary dau age 10.

Elizabeth dau age 8.

Stephen son age 6.

Edith dau age 3.

Walter son age 9mths.

All were paupers on the Parish.

This may or may not be your Stephen, or it could be relatives of your family.

Hi,

Charlotte Morris (nee Mounter)  was the widow of William Morris. Her son Stephen was born Curry Rivel 1865. He married Louisa Meacham - I have their children as Ernest 1887, Elizabeth  1889, Melina 1891, Florence 1893, William 1895.

Cheers,

Kitty
